Sunset dinner on the Ksamil shore

Ksamil faces west across the Ionian, with low islands on the horizon and almost nothing between the terrace and the sun. Summer Gate is one of the small handful of restaurants where dinner happens directly on the beach as the sky turns.

When to book

May & September: sunset around 19:45 — book a table for 19:00.
June: sunset around 20:30 — book for 19:45.
July & August: sunset around 20:30 — book for 20:00.
October: sunset around 18:30 — book for 18:00.

Ask for a table on the front edge of the deck or a sunbed on the sand. Both work — the sand is calmer, the deck has a slightly higher view of the islands.

What to order at sunset

Sunset spritz — Aperol, prosecco, olive, served as the light starts.
Burrata & tomato — a slow first course while the sun drops.
Grilled sea bream or whole catch of the day — built for sharing.
Albanian raki — a small glass after the last plate.

Tips for the perfect Ksamil sunset

Arrive 30–40 minutes before the sun touches the sea — the colour starts early.
The wind drops after sunset; light layers are useful in May, September and October.
Order drinks first, food second — the kitchen can pace the meal to the light.
Stay for the blue hour: the lanterns come on around 21:00 in high season.
