About us

A family, a shore, a kitchen.

Summer Gate began as a wooden hut on a quiet stretch of Ksamil sand in 2014. A decade later we're still a family house — same hands at the door, same kitchen, same view of the Ionian.

The first version of Summer Gate was built by one family with help from neighbours: pine from the hills above Sarandë, reed from the marshes around Butrint, paint donated by the shop next door. The village called the spot "the gate to the sea" long before the sign went up.

Today three generations work the same shore. We run the kitchen, the bar and the beach ourselves. The menu is short on purpose — Mediterranean seafood, a few Albanian classics, vegan options, and whatever looks best at the market. The bar pours Albanian wine, classic cocktails and slow drinks for the sunset.

We sit between Ksamil's main beaches, a five-minute drive from the Butrint archaeological park and twenty minutes from Sarandë. Most guests come for an afternoon and stay until the last warm hour of the day.

What we care about

  • Local first
Fish from the bay, vegetables from the village, olive oil from south of here.
  • Slow service
Tables are yours for as long as you want them. No two-hour timers.
  • Honest food
Short menu, named ingredients, prices on the board.
  • The shore
We protect the cove — no plastic on the sand, reed not fabric for the shade.
